Your passport is the foundation of every international trip. Verify these basics before booking anything else:
- Validity: at least 6 months remaining from your return date.
- Free pages: at least 2 blank pages for visa and entry stamps.
- Damage: no torn pages, water damage, or unreadable photo. Border agents reject damaged passports.
- Type: ordinary tourist passport is enough for almost all leisure travel.

🇪🇺 ETIAS — New Requirement for Europe in 2026
Starting in 2026, Mexicans entering the 29 Schengen Area countries need ETIAS travel authorization. It is electronic, costs €7 EUR (waived for under-18 and over-70), and is valid for 3 years or until your passport expires (whichever comes first).
Apply online at travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en. Approval is usually instant; some cases take 96 hours. Apply at least 1 week before your trip.

🇺🇸 US Tourist Visa (B1/B2) — The Hardest Document in 2026
Mexicans need a B1/B2 tourist visa to enter the USA. Apply at the US Embassy or Consulate.
Required: appointment at ais.usvisa-info.com, $185 USD payment, DS-160 form, valid passport, photo, financial proof, and travel itinerary.

🛡️ Travel Insurance — Mandatory for Some Countries

💉 Vaccinations

- COVID-19: no longer mandatory anywhere, but cruises sometimes still ask for proof.
